Laboratories
The college has well equipped laboratories in basic sciences and pharmacy so that students can understand effectively, what they have learnt in the classrooms. Experiments are designed so that the basic concepts are well understood by the students. Advanced experiments in the laboratories, help the students to get an insight into the new frontiers of pharmacy and allied sciences.

Computer laboratory
The computer laboratory of the college is well equipped with the latest computers (cyrix-II and pentiums) . It has ten computers with CD ROM drives and inkjet printers. The laboratory is exclusively used by the I B.Pharm students for their computer learning. The ratio of computers to students is 1:2. The staff and PG students also use the facilities for their academic work like thesis and projects. Some in-house programmes are also being developed for the benefit of students and staff.

Equipment and instruments
The college machine room has various machines used in the pharmaceutical industries at different stages of production, quality control and packing. Tabletting machines, coating and polishing pans, bottle filling machines, and Q.C.instruments like friability tester, DT and Dissolution test apparatus, U.V.visible spectrophotometer, H.P.L.C (schimadzu) with U.V.-Florescence detector, deep freezer (upto 200C), are the important ones, apart from other modern and sophisticated machines and instruments to update the facilities.
Important equipments and instruments added recently include colorimeters, single pan balance, pH meters, refractometer, conductivity meter, BOD incubator, tabletting machine tray drier, laminar flow unit, photo fluorimeter, digital flame photometer, nephelometer, digital potentiometer, colony counter, convulsiometer, analgesiometer, histometer, Karl Fischer titration assembly CL-59.
General equipments purchased for the office use include Nelcoplain paper copier, network electronic typewriter, gestener electronic stencil cutter, modi xerox, P.A.system, water coolers and refrigerators. A computer room with PCs is setup since May 1993, for office purpose.

Research Laboratory
The institution has well equipped research lab with equipments and Instruments like Shimadzu HPLC, Shimadzu UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Electrolab six basket dissolution apparatus with Autosampler, Brooke field’s Viscometer, Research centrifuge, Electrolab Tap Density Tester, Shimadzu high sensitivity digital balance, Gel electrophoresis, Rotary tablet press, Colloid mill, Fluidised Bed Drier, Planetary Mixer, computers etc.

Visiting Faculty
Eminent persons in the field of Pharmacy drawn from industry, Drugs Control department, teaching profession and hospitals, visit the college and address the students and staff on important topics in the profession. Gap lectures arranged by scholarly and experienced persons, help the students and staff to update their knowledge.

Continuing Education Centre
J.S.S.College of Pharmacy is a recognised centre by the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi for conducting special time bound Crash Course, Refresher Course for In-Service Pharmacists and candidates sponsored by industry and other recognised agencies. So far three such programmes have been successfully conducted.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RGH Adelaide
The college has signed a MoU in 1995 with Repatriation General Hospital (RGH) Adelaide, South Australia along with J.S.S. Hospital & J.S.S.Mahavidyapeetha for training of teaching staff in clinical pharmacy practice at RGH, Adelaide.
JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysore & the University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia have signed a MoU on 12.5.2000 to collaborate in post graduate pharmacy education. This MoU paves the way for unique relationship in which the college will offer a “Bridging Program” into post graduate courses offered in Australia by the University’s School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. Students who successfully complete all the requirements of the bridging program receive one subject advanced standing and guaranteed entry into the professional post-graduate pharmacy courses of the University of South Australia, including the prestigious Master and Doctorate of Clinical Pharmacy. Bridging Program is offered from 2000-2001.
These arrangements offer Indian Pharmacy graduates considering post graduate study outside of India a pathway to one of Australia’s leading pharmacy schools with invaluable initial training in this discipline in India, as well as advice and preparation for successful period of study in Australia.

Clinical Pharmacy
Department of Clinical Pharmacy as a part of M.Pharm (Pharmacy Practice) PG teaching and training site was started at J.S.S.Medical College Hospital in April 1999.
Clinical pharmacy services now offered to six medical units, two paediatric units and to one psychiatry unit include ward round participation, treatment chart review and patient counselling. Establishment of a drug information and consultancy service for all prescribers, development of parenteral drug administration guidelines, the introduction of an adverse drug reaction reporting system, development of antibiotic guidelines, preparation & distribution of educational publications and newsletters of drug and prescribing information are some of the significant achievement to date.
Pharmacy practice postgraduate students participate in all activities including ward rounds, treatment chart review, drug information and patient counselling.

Research and publications
Need oriented projects of national importance are carried out by M.Pharm and Ph.D. students. Some of the areas include essential drugs, traditional medicine, pharmacokinetics, industrial pharmacy etc.
Staff and students are encouraged to present their research findings in seminars/conferences and publish the same in national and international journals.
Six publications of the college have received the best article awards. Five from APTI and one from Indian Pharmacological Society.
10.
Industrial tour & industrial training
Industrial tour is organised for Final B.Pharm students, to visit various pharmaceutical industries in and around Karnataka, to get an orientation to the pharmaceutical industries.
Industrial training of about 150 hrs (one month) is arranged after completion of Final B.Pharm. About 20 Pharmaceutical industries in the State & outside are involved in the training of our students.
